Jackie Colon is the southeast regional director for the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Educational Fund. Her region includes Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana. Before moving to Florida, Colon worked for Fortune 500 companies on Wall Street. She was the youngest deputy mayor in the history of the City of Palm Bay and was the first minority elected to the Brevard County Board of Commissioners, where she served as chairman of the board. Colon was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush as Florida Commissioner on the Status of Women.
She was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and came to the United States at eight years old. She did not speak English, but she was determined to learn the language. Colon believes that America is the land where dreams come true. "God, family and country" is her motto. Her love, respect and support for our military comes from her years as a former naval officer’s wife.
Colon attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and Barry University for public administration and public relations. She received her M.B.A. from Florida Christian University.
